SummaryThe Housekeeper/Residential Clerk is responsible for the overall administration, cleanliness, and smooth operation of the Official Residence, while also performing direct housekeeping duties. This role combines hands-on domestic service — including cleaning, laundry, and care of valuable items — with the administrative and event-planning support role required to support the Principal Officer's official and personal activities.Work Location: U.S. Diplomatic/Official Residence Position Type: Full-Time, Official Residence Employee (ORE)Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesHousehold AdministrationMeets regularly with the Principal Officer and Protocol Assistant to provide administrative support regarding official and personal activities; maintains ongoing communication with the Principal Officer regarding his/her needs.Assist the Principal Officer and Office Management Specialist with review, accuracy, and processing of time and attendance sheets.Assist and prepare representational vouchers for Principal Officer’s reimbursement process.Assist and prepares the Principal Officer’s Value Added Tax (VAT) reimbursement.Perform daily inspections of the residence serviceability of internal and exterior equipment (including air conditioning units), lighting, fixtures; report discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.Always maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.Housekeeping & Residence CarePerforms and/or oversees all housekeeping-related work, including cleaning, washing, and ironing in the residential (non-commercial) workplace.Cleans and cares for valuable and heritage items in accordance with special instructions.Washes, irons, and steams expensive, high-quality clothing according to professional standards.Performs daily inspections of the residence for cleanliness, neatness, security, and serviceability of interior and exterior equipment (including air conditioning and generators) and lighting; reports discrepancies to the Management section or facility maintenance office the next workday.Monitors gardeners and advises on maintenance of residence grounds.May be asked to escort other workers in the residence.Events & Representational SupportBe available to provide support during all representational events (parties, receptions, dinners) in coordination with the Executive Office;Assist the Protocol team with observance of all proper protocols during representational events.GeneralPerforms other duties as assigned by the Employer.Work under the direct supervision of the Employer or other designated individual(s).May be required to work occasional weekends, local holidays, or evenings, and will be compensated accordingly.A candidate selected for this position must successfully complete a security check and a medical examination. EducationCompletion of secondary education.ExperienceAt least 1–3 years of experience as a Senior Housekeeper, Housekeeper, Residential clerk, Administrator, events planning, or in a similar field, orA minimum of two (2) years of professional cleaning, maid, or housekeeper experience.Language RequirementsFluency in Hungarian.English language proficiency at a minimum B2 (intermediate) level, adequate for communicating about work tasks with the employer, family, and designated personnel.KnowledgeWorking knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel to prepare bills and track residential and Principal Officer expenses.Knowledge of customer and personal services principles, including assessing needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction.Knowledge of principles regarding resource allocation and coordination of people and resources.Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing, file/records management, and office terminology.General knowledge of event planning, including menu and drink planning, decoration, and guest flow.Skills and AbilitiesExcellent diplomatic and interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication and supervisory skills.Ability to independently manage work assignments and remain flexible for constantly changing schedules.Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.Exceptional time management skills.Comfortable conversing with diplomatic and high-level government personnel.
